����ʦapp Theatre Students Selected to Audition for Prestigious Scholarship

Fort Scott, Kan.—Three ����ʦapp theatre students have earned invitations to participate in the Irene Ryan Scholarship Auditions during the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). ����ʦapp is a member of Region 5 of the KCACTF, which comprises more than one hundred productions from seven states.
 
����ʦapp students Jason Clissold, Jared Oshel, and Stephanie Rice were nominated to participate in the auditions due to their exceptional performances in “The Bald Soprano,” an absurdist play that was staged October 20-22. “I’m very honored to be chosen to audition. I think it is going to be a valuable experience and I’m looking forward to it,” said Rice.
 
More than 250 students will vie for theatre scholarships during the auditions, which will take place in Des Moines, Iowa, from January 22 through 28. Each student will perform up to three rounds of their chosen pieces for a panel of judges.
 
In addition, the cast and crew of ����ʦapp’s production of “The Bald Soprano,” is being considered to perform at the region’s festival. “In December, we will find out if the entire cast and crew will be invited to perform,” said Lawrence Alford, ����ʦapp Theatre Director. “It’s a huge honor to be considered—we are quite happy about it. No other ����ʦapp show has been considered before.”
 
Since 1972, the Irene Ryan scholarship program has provided recognition, honor, and financial assistance to outstanding student performers who wish to further their education.
